Northeast Delta Human Services Authority (NE Delta HSA) Executive Director Monteic A. Sizer spoke at a New Day Recovery Community Resources meeting today to an audience of faith-based leaders and healthcare providers. He provided information about behavioral health, addiction and developmental disability services offered by NE Delta HSA and discussed how community leaders can help their citizens find the services they need.
“We engage faith-based communities in our efforts because the contribution they can make is significant to provide hope that further stabilizes traditional mental health services,” said Dr. Sizer. “Along with reaching out to citizens through faith-based approaches, we want clergy leaders to better understand their own challenges along with the challenges of their congregations. We know that faith can offset hopelessness, but by coordinating all of our resources, we can all help our region grow and prosper to its full potential.”
The meeting was graciously hosted by New Day Recovery Administrator Doug Pollock, who also emphasized the importance of putting good information about behavioral health and addiction disorder services into the hands of the faith-based community. The meeting was opened by Pastor Stewart Robinette of the Assembly South Church, who said “we have to be able to network within our community and help our citizens in body, soul and spirit.”
Dr. Sizer said that making faith-based leaders aware of NE Delta HSA services is one the agency’s major initiatives. “Our community leaders must all combine resources and identify how we can all work together to speak to all facets of our citizens’ lives,” he said. “With this type of collaborative engagement, we will make good things happen.” Dr. Sizer encouraged attendees to visit the “For Contractors” form on the NE Delta HSA website at https://nedeltahsa.org/for-potential-contractors.php to inform the agency of services that healthcare providers can contribute in efforts to reach all who may need services throughout northeastern Louisiana.
