Tonya administers and directs a comprehensive Human Resources department that includes a network of approximately 110 staff positions across the Northeast Louisiana region. She serves as an advisor to administrators, managers and supervisors regarding all employee relations matters including, but not limited to, American with Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Prior to this role, Toney served as a Mayoral Fellow for the City of New Orleans, HR Director in the private industry and strategic HR partner for the Maryland Department of Budget and Management and Prince George’s County Public Schools. Tonya has 10 years of specialized HR experience in leadership, relationship management, compensation, staffing, employee relations, training and development, ethical practices and development of HR policies and procedures.
Toney holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Jackson State University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Baltimore. She is known for successfully understanding the “big picture” and how HR processes and activities must align with the organization’s overall mission.
