A Safe Space For Hurting Women and Children

A Safe Space For Hurting Women and Children

I am thrilled to share with you the exciting developments underway at Northeast Delta Human Services Authority. As the Executive Director, it is my privilege to lead the charge in the establishment of what will soon become one of the largest inpatient facilities catering to addicted pregnant women with dependent children in Louisiana.

Our vision extends beyond the mere provision of services; we are dedicated to delivering evidence-based behavioral and primary health care while actively addressing the negative social determinants that impact the well-being of our community. Through our comprehensive approach, we aim not only to treat but to empower, ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the support they need to thrive.

Moreover, our commitment to excellence extends to education and training. Our facility will serve as a hub for regional healthcare professionals, offering specialized training in our integrated care model. By equipping physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses with the tools to effectively address the needs of our population, we are fostering a culture of holistic healing and support.

We must confront the pressing challenges facing Louisiana’s Delta region head-on. The statistics are sobering; too many women and children are suffering, and the consequences are dire. Lives are being lost, families torn apart, and futures jeopardized. We cannot afford to stand idly by. Our hurting women need their children for hope because hope can lead to healing. That’s why we’re creating a safe space.

As I have often emphasized, the time for action is now. We must set aside our differences and rally around our shared commitment to health, healing, and prosperity. Regardless of our backgrounds or circumstances, we all share a common desire for wellness and opportunity. It is this unity of purpose that will propel us forward as One Region and One State.

I am pleased to announce that our facility will soon be operational, with further details forthcoming in the weeks ahead. Together, let us embrace this opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
